Plug-in room mist with a motion activated mechanism:
A seamless addition to Touchland's existing product lineup, the Touch-less room mist utilizes the same 1-oz liquid vessel as the Power Mist hand sanitizer spray.
The front design of the attachment features a small sensor that activates the lights inside the adapter, creating a light glow that brings Touchland's variety of color and scent options to life.
These lights also act as a visual confirmation that scent is being released into the room.
The vessel of the device contains a fiber wick that absorbs the scent liquid and carries it into the adapter, where it is then warmed and released into the room. The flower petal-like shapes above the sensor are the outlet for the scent to be released from the device.
The charger prongs conveniently fold into the adapter body for easy storage.
The Process
My first step was to measure an existing Power Mist hand sanitizer bottle to collect the correct dimensions. Then I moved onto preliminary sketching and ideation
The next step was to create preliminary renders of the device. At this stage, there was a scent intensity slider, and the prongs could not fold in.
I decided to modify Touchland's logo slightly during the sketch process to include a waving motion for the existing hand. This was to prompt the user to wave their own hand in front of the device and activate the scent.
Using the measurements I gathered from the Power Mist sanitizer, I was able to draft a final orthographic sketch of the room mist device.
